Logistics For A Green World? You Bet Your Carbon Footprint!

Here at Airspace Technologies, green isn't a trend, and it's not a marketing gimmick intended to polish our brand. It's built-in, part of our DNA – and the proof is in the efficiency. The more efficient and 'lean' a company can run, the greener it will be.

Efficiency, which we provide through industry-leading technology and the best minds in the business, means shorter, more direct routes, less waiting time for vehicles and people, and the most efficient air routing. We pool our shipments whenever possible, which is not only green, but it benefits customers as well. Our smart routing, enhanced by brilliant people and artificial intelligence, 'straightens out' routes and helps vehicles avoid sitting in traffic jams. Our offices work to reduce their environmental impact. We also try to work with partners who have a green outlook.

All of these efforts mean less energy used and fewer emissions. 

Why is this important in shipping and logistics?

For this answer, we go to the federal Environmental Protection Agency, which says trends point to rapid growth in U.S. freight activity. Between 1990 and 2013, freight activity grew by over 50 percent and is projected to nearly double again by 2040. Experts expect that by 2050, global freight transport emissions will surpass those from passenger vehicles.

Logistics has always been a very fuel heavy industry. Just recently, more companies are trying to reduce their carbon footprint. This is why we enjoy getting the word out about becoming green. We definitely applaud Frontier Airlines for offering free flights for one day to people with the last name "Green" or "Greene." This move generated a lot of publicity, which is great. But it's also important to note that Frontier's green stance isn't all talk. It says its fleet's fuel efficiency is unmatched by other U.S. airlines, which means it offers what it calls "the most sustainable approach to flying," according to President and CEO Barry Biffle.
